The UC Santa Barbara women’s tennis team opened the 2000 dual-match season with a 6-3 loss to 10th ranked USC at Marks Tennis Stadium Tuesday.

UCSB’s No. 5 and 6 singles players won points as did the No. 3 doubles team. Gaucho Gaby Andrade defeated USC’s Caroline Christian 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5 singles and UCSB’s Melissa Dillard defeated Christina Irinco 6-1, 7-6 at No. 6 singles. Andrade paired with Jill Katzenberger at No. 3 doubles for an 8-4 victory.

The Gauchos open their home season Saturday, January 22, when they host UC Davis at the RecCen Courts.
